Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of our Patriot ancestors who fought and sacrificed during the American Revolutionary War more than two hundred years ago, for the freedom we share today. As a member of DAR, you can continue this legacy by participating in various activities such as historic preservation, education promotion, and other patriotic endeavors.

Who is Eligible for Membership?

Any woman at least eighteen years of age, who can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence, is eligible for membership. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

How to Join

The first step to membership in the NSDAR and the Thomas Nelson Chapter, NSDAR, is to:

  • Gather the genealogical information that you already have.

  • Contact us for next steps.

  • Work with the registrar to complete the application process.

For more information on eligibility, please visit the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution membership eligibility page. This site will also guide you in the steps to find your lineage, identify your Patriot ancestor, find a chapter, and begin the application process.
